WHAT HOT SAUCE PACKAGING COSTS AT WHOLESALE (AND HOW TIER PRICING WORKS)

Packaging is the cost line sauce makers most often guess at. The numbers are simple once you know that the price of a box depends on how many boxes are in the order — all of them, not just that box.

The tiers

Every pod is priced on the same six quantity tiers, applied automatically at checkout:

• 25 boxes — base price (the minimum wholesale order)
• 50 — 5% off
• 100 — 10% off
• 250 — 15% off
• 500 — 20% off
• 1,000 — 25% off

The tier is set by the total box count in the order across every size, pack count and colour. Fifty 5oz 3-packs and fifty 4oz 2-packs price as a 100-box order, and each box gets 10% off its own base price. The bundle builder shows the combined tier as you add lines.

Promo codes stack

A promo code applies on top of the tier discount, not instead of it. A 10% launch code on a 250-box order takes the price 15% down for the tier and then 10% off that.

What a box costs

Base prices at 25 boxes run from $0.70 for a 5oz 1-pack to $2.70 for a 4oz 6-pack. The best-selling 5oz 3-pack is $1.35 at 25, about $1.22 at 100, about $1.08 at 500 and about $1.01 at 1,000. Per bottle shipped, that is well under fifty cents for a box that needs no wrap or fill.

The rest of the packaging bill

• Outer layer. A #5 padded mailer is about $1.28 each in a 25-pack and under $1 in volume; a plain shipping carton is similar.
• Labels and seals. Sheet labels and shrink bands add a few cents per bottle.
• Custom printing. From 500 boxes, with a one-time $300 plate fee that is waived at 2,000. Below that, a label on the lid is the economical branding.

Sizing a first order

Order the tier that covers 60–90 days of sales, not the tier with the best price. Boxes ship flat and store well, but cash tied up in 1,000 boxes at a 25% discount is still cash tied up. Most brands start at 50 or 100 of their main pack count, add a smaller run of a second size, and step up a tier on the reorder once the sell-through is known. Before any of that, sample pods at $4.95 each let you check fit and presentation with your own bottles.

Shipping the order to you

Pods ship flat from Bedford, New Hampshire, in 2–3 business days. Orders up to a few hundred boxes go by parcel; larger runs ship LTL freight on a pallet, and the custom orders page estimates the freight rate by ZIP code.
